Since the health system in the Democratic Republic of Congo is in a very poor shape, those suffering from mental illness receive little to no help and are mostly abandoned by their families. To bring some happiness into their lives the Kinshasa based artist Géraldine TOBE started an art-therapy project that allows the patients to express themselves through drawing and painting. The project was embraced by VUB rector Caroline Pauwels who asked Olga Van Oost to serve a liaison person in Belgium. A collaboration was also started with the Museum Dr. Guislain in Ghent.
